Self-Help Graphics

Barrio Mobile Art Studio (BMAS) takes creation to the streets by generating jobs for artists, providing arts education to local youth, and initiating dialogue between generations and communities through collaboration. BMAS hires and trains artists through professional development and provides them with job experience.

Girls Today Women Tomorrow

The Leadership Mentoring Program helps girls build greater self-esteem so that they may overcome the negative stereotypes and community conditions that limit their potential. Funding supports mentoring, education, enrichment activities and ongoing thematic workshop to inspire girls toward positive personal, social, scholastic and career achievement.

Coalition for Responsible Community Development

South LA New Entrepreneurs Program - Seed funding is awarded to winners of a "Shark Tank" style competition to launch the next great business idea. Participants are primarily Latinx, monolingual Spanish, undocumented residents in South LA. 

Jovenes, Inc.

As the leader in addressing youth homelessness in Southeast LA, Jovenes has identified a lack of emergency & transitional housing options that specifically caterer to homeless youth throughout the region. To address this need, Jovenes will add an additional 12 bed scattered-site transitional housing program for homeless, at-risk youth which should house approximately 25 youth per year.

Las Fotos Project

Hire Her - Funding will help formalize and improve the existing social enterprise, fee-for-service business model. Participants will serve as hired photographers for social events such as galas, quinceañeras, and street fairs as well as develop marketing materials, restaurant menus, and websites for local businesses. Program participants will earn financial compensation for each assignment and receive professional development in the areas of photography, graphic design, advertising, project management, and client relations. 

California Latino Leadership Institute

Southeast Youth Workforce Development and Civic Engagement Program - Funding supports a one of a kind, rigorous, seven-week paid internship for youth residing in Southeast Los Angeles that are high school juniors and seniors ages 16-18. Fellows are provided with individual tool kits that they keep after the program that includes a Dell lap top computer and placed in paid workforce internships at New Economics for Women (NEW) as well as other agencies and municipal departments throughout the region.
